Psychotherapy/Expanded-States Integration
I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy. This means that I am interested in exploring your wholeness (mind, body and spirit) and helping you access the innate wisdom within each of us. Western psychology often portrays the “whole” person to be highly individualized and self-sufficient, but my model is that we are also relational beings and interdependence is crucial to our well-being. Finding the balance of healthy interdependence is an essential feature of my holisitic approach. Sessions will likely include traditional talk therapy with integrated elements of somatic (body-based) therapy. Theories/Modalities I draw from include Psychodynamics, Hakomi, Internal Family Systems, Buddhist Psychology, Attachment and Polyvagal Theory as well as Vedic philosophy. I work with individuals aged 14 and above.
I offer trauma-based therapy from this perspective as well. I am experienced with the treatment of CPTSD, sexual assault and other non acute forms of emotional/psychological trauma. These types of trauma are particularly present and impactful because they touch the very core of our sense of safety and trust in the world, in our bodies and in our selves. Trauma is unconsciously carried somatically (in the body), creates patterns of physical and emotional tension, triggers reactivity and a sense of overwhelm. I approach this experience from a place of relational gentleness, patience, and sensitivity knowing that the healing process can not move faster than our slowest parts and most vulnerable wounds can go.
I also offer integration therapy of expanded/extraordinary states as well. This may look similar to other sessions but we will directly examine and explore the way experiences of expanded consciousness influence your life and sense of existential well-being. Expanded states of consciousness are possible through a variety of practices, such as meditation, dance, yoga, wilderness retreats, medicinal and shamanic. Sometimes these experiences can be quite challenging, leaving people feeling ungrounded, confused or alone. Having studied these expanded-states, I offer a unique understanding to help you integrate these experiences in a safe and non-judgmental way. If you are looking for Ketamine treatment, please do inquire, as I work with medical professionals in a referral network that can assess you for this type of treatment. Medical professionals are necessary for safety while I provide the therapeutic integration after the treatment.
